Irrigation canals (bisses) in the Valais

An easy hike in the heart of the Valais following technical masterpieces.

During the hot and dry months in the Valais, the irrigation canals, called “bisses”, were and are still essential for watering the meadows and plantations. For the maintenance of the in some places adventurous built bisses, paths run alongside the networks of the canals. Nowadays also hikers benefit from the trails and can enjoy these cultural goods.
