All the way up to the bottom of the Säntis

Enjoy a tour in the far eastern part of Switzerland through an idyllic valley landscape.

From Neu St. Johann we hike gently up the valley of the Luteren river. We will have a good chance to get our feet wet when walking through the swampy terrain, as the Lutern valley is home to moorlands of outstanding beauty and of national significance. The changing colours of the trees will accompanying us, and with the low position of the sun we will come to understand the local field names including “shadow-side” and “sunny-side” of the valley.

Until some decades ago, villages of the valley were at the centre of a bathing tradition. A few sips of sulphur-containing water from a centuries-old mineral spring will be sure to revive your spirits.
